Why Early Childhood Matters
The early years of childhood are a remarkable time of growth. During these first years, children are not only learning new words and skills — they are developing curiosity, confidence, relationships, and their understanding of the world.
The environments children experience and the people who guide them during this stage can shape how they approach learning for years to come.
Language Shapes Thinking
Young children absorb language naturally through listening, interaction, and everyday conversation. Exposure to multiple languages helps strengthen communication, thinking, and cognitive development.
Curiosity Drives Learning
Young children are naturally curious about the world around them. When they are given space to explore, observe, and experiment, learning becomes joyful and meaningful.
Relationships Build Confidence
Children develop best within caring and responsive relationships. Supportive teachers and families create the emotional safety children need to explore and grow.
Early Experiences Matter
The everyday moments children experience — from play and conversation to routines and shared activities — help shape how they think, communicate, and connect with the world.
Language Through Relationships
Language develops most naturally through connection. Children hear and use language throughout the day during conversations, storytelling, songs, and shared classroom experiences.
Independence with Guidance
Children gain confidence when they are trusted with meaningful responsibilities. Teachers provide support and encouragement while children develop independence and practical life skills.
Our Approach to Early Education
Young children learn through relationships, exploration, and everyday experiences. Our approach to early education focuses on creating environments where children feel safe to ask questions, try new things, and develop confidence in their abilities.
Rather than separating learning into subjects, we support the development of the whole child through language, play, curiosity, and meaningful daily routines.
Curiosity and Exploration
Children are naturally curious about the world around them. Our learning environment encourages discovery through hands-on materials, observation, and play.
Culture and Community
Language and culture are deeply connected. Through traditions, shared experiences, and cultural exploration, children develop an early appreciation for the diversity of the world around them.
How Language Comes to Life
Language grows through meaningful experiences. At Nihao School, Mandarin is not taught as a separate subject — it becomes part of everyday life.
Teachers speak Mandarin during everyday interactions — greeting children, guiding activities, and sharing moments throughout the day. Language develops naturally through relationships.
Daily Conversations
Songs and Stories
Music and storytelling introduce children to the rhythm and sounds of language. Through songs, fingerplays, and books, children begin to recognize words in a joyful way.
Play and Exploration
Language becomes meaningful when it connects to experience. Whether building, cooking, or exploring outdoors, children hear and use Mandarin during play.
Culture and Celebrations
Through celebrations, traditions, and shared classroom experiences, children discover the culture connected to the language they are learning.

Our Story
Nihao School grew from a simple belief: the early years of childhood shape the way children experience the world.
Over many years of working with families and young children, we saw how powerful language, relationships, and everyday experiences can be in supporting a child’s growth. Children learn not only from lessons, but from the environments around them and the people who guide them.
Nihao School was created to bring these ideas together — a place where children can explore language naturally, develop independence with support, and grow within a caring community.
Today, Nihao School is part of the broader i-Immersion vision: building lifelong growth through education, culture, and family partnership.
