Dragon Boat Festival

The Dragon Boat Festival occurs on the fifth day of the fifth month on the Chinese lunisolar calendar. It becomes a tradition that people are excited because of lots of activities to join and prepare.

Originally, this festival is for commemorating Qu Yuan- the best-known legend. He was a patriotic poet and a loyal official of the state of Chu during the Warring States Period. He has shown his love and passion for his country by making poems. In his great despair during 278 BC, he committed suicide in Miluo River and this is the place where people began doing the dragon boat festival every year.
